- 30Hello. I am a Śvetāmbara Jain woman, born into a Marwari Jain family and living in Mumbai. I have some genuine questions about things I have grown up hearing and I would really appreciate honest answers. I am not looking for answers like "other religions do worse", "this is how it has always been", or "just follow tradition". I want to understand the actual reasoning behind these things. If something is only a community or Marwari tradition and not actually Jain doctrine, please say that too. Bārasā Sūtra My dadi recently told me that women cannot read the Bārasā Sūtra, and apparently even sadhviji cannot read it. Why? Is there an actual Śvetāmbara Jain text or rule that says this? If yes, where? 2.
