Summary
This document is the German translation of the English book "Simple and Effective Science for Self Realization" by Dada Bhagwan. It is published by Dada Bhagwan Aradhana Trust and the first edition was released in February 2013. The book's core message revolves around Akram Vignan, a "stepless" path to self-realization, meaning it offers a direct and shortcut method, akin to an elevator ride, as opposed to the traditional "kramik" or step-by-step spiritual paths.
The central figure is Gnani Purush Ambalal Muljibhai Patel, also known as Dadashri or Dada. The book details his spontaneous self-realization event in June 1958, where his ego dissolved, and he became an instrument for the "Lord of Salvation," whom he named Dada Bhagwan. He explained that this "Dada Bhagwan" is a manifestation of the Lord within himself and within all living beings, differing only in the degree of its manifestation.
Key concepts and teachings presented in the book include:
-
The Goal of Human Life: The book emphasizes that a life without purpose is meaningless. The ultimate goal is Moksha (Liberation), which is defined on two levels:
- First Level (Here and Now): Freedom from inner turmoil regarding worldly problems and suffering. Experiencing indifference to worldly pain and maintaining one's own bliss amidst external difficulties.
- Second Level (Permanent Moksha): Freedom from the cycles of birth and death, achieved when all karma is completely discharged.
-
Eternal Bliss through Self-Realization: The book asserts that true, permanent happiness (Param Anand) lies within the Self (Atma). By realizing the Self, one achieves this eternal bliss. It criticizes the pursuit of temporary worldly happiness, which is often followed by suffering.
-
Separating "I" and "Mine": A fundamental teaching is the scientific separation of the "I" (the pure Soul, the Self) from "mine" (possessions, relationships, body, mind, intellect, ego). This is presented as a scientific process, not achievable through mere intellectual understanding or personal effort alone. A Gnani Purush is essential for this separation.
-
The Role of a Gnani Purush: A Gnani Purush is defined as someone who has fully realized the Self and can impart this knowledge to others. They are described as the "greatest scientist" who can precisely separate the Self from the non-Self. They are the embodiment of divine knowledge and grace. The lineage of Gnani Purush is continued by Param Pujya Deepakbhai Desai, following Dada Bhagwan and Pujya Niruben Amin.
-
Gnan Vidhi: This is the specific scientific process, taking about 2 hours, through which a Gnani Purush imparts Self-realization (Atma Gnan). During this ceremony, the participant repeats certain phrases (Bhed Vigyan) that separate the Self from the non-Self. This process destroys past karma and leads to a constant awareness of being the Pure Soul.
-
The Five Agnas (Five Principles): After Gnan Vidhi, participants are given Five Agnas, which are essential for protecting the received knowledge and navigating worldly life without binding new karma. Following these Agnas is described as one's religion and penance.
-
Akram vs. Kramik Path: Akram Vignan is the "stepless" or "elevator" path, allowing one to live a worldly life while progressing towards liberation. Kramik Vignan is the traditional "step-by-step" path, which is much longer and arduous.
-
Karma: Karma is explained as actions performed with the belief "I am the doer." It is the intention behind the action, not the action itself, that binds karma. Understanding who the real doer is leads to not binding new karma.
-
Pratikraman: This is a crucial process for atonement and purification. It involves remembering the fault, sincerely repenting, asking for forgiveness from the Pure Soul within the other person, and resolving not to repeat the mistake. It is a tool for balancing karmic accounts.
-
Acceptance and Adjustment: The book strongly emphasizes the importance of "Adjust Everywhere" (Sich überall anpassen) and avoiding conflicts ("Vermeide Zusammenstöße"). Adapting to others, even difficult personalities, and accepting situations as they are, particularly by understanding that "Whatever has happened, is Justice" ("Was immer geschehen ist, ist Gerechtigkeit"), is presented as a path to inner peace and freedom.
-
The Fault Lies with the Sufferer: This principle highlights that suffering arises from one's own past mistakes and karmic accounts. While the world may blame the "instrument" (Nimit) causing the suffering, nature's law correctly identifies the sufferer as the one with the underlying fault.
-
The Importance of Satsang: Direct association and interaction with a Gnani Purush (Satsang) is considered vital for understanding the knowledge deeply, clarifying doubts, and nurturing the "seed of knowledge" received during Gnan Vidhi. Reading Dada Bhagwan's books and watching his discourses are also beneficial.
In essence, "Simple Effective Science for Self Realization" by Dada Bhagwan presents a pragmatic and scientifically explained path to achieving liberation and inner bliss in the present life. It emphasizes the direct grace and guidance of a Gnani Purush through the Akram Vignan path, facilitated by the Gnan Vidhi ceremony and adherence to the Five Agnas, as the means to overcome suffering and realize one's true Self.
