Summary

This brochure, produced by the JAINA Education Committee, introduces the Jain eLibrary, an online platform dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of Jain literature.

The Jain eLibrary is a comprehensive digital repository housing a vast collection of Jain texts, dictionaries, encyclopedias, articles, magazines, and books in Gujarati, Hindi, and English, encompassing both ancient and contemporary works. It offers a rich "confluence of modern and ancient literature," featuring Shvetambara and Digambara scriptures, Char Anuyog (the four streams of Jain literature), Bhashya literature, and Prakrit-Sanskrit works. The library also includes catalogues of Jain manuscripts from various libraries, highlighting the diversity of its collection.

The core of the library's content is based on fundamental Jain principles such as Ahimsa (non-violence), Karuna (compassion), Karma philosophy, and Anekantavada (non-absolutism).

As of January 2019, the library had uploaded 30 lakh (3 million) pages, with an addition of approximately 20,000 new pages uploaded monthly. Readers can download and read this spiritual literature, and the platform also serves as a valuable tool for Jain eLibrary authors and publishers to reach a wider audience.

The Jain eLibrary website is free to use. Registered users can freely download any content for their personal use.
